Cayetano Carpio
Politician
Founder of the El Salvador's revolutionary political-military organization, the Fuerzas Populares de Liberación Farabundo Marti.
He was the leader of the Communist Party of El Salvador in the 1960s.
The official story of his death was that he committed suicide after being blamed by other leaders in the FPL for the murder of FPL second-in-command Ana María but doubt has been cast on this explanation.
His father was a cobbler and Cayetano worked for him as a child.
He was referred to by some as the Ho Chi Minh of Latin America.
