Carmen Naranjo
Novelist
Costa Rican novelist, poet, and essayist. Her most well-known short story was published in And We Sold the Rain: Contemporary Fiction from Central America in 1996.
She studied Philology at the University of Costa Rica and later attended the Universidad Autónoma de México and the University of Iowa for post-graduate studies.
She served as the Costa Rican Minister of Culture and Ambassador to Italy in the 1970s.
She was born in Cartago, Costa Rica.
The work of Claribel Alegria was also featured in And We Sold the Rain.
