Trumpeter and member of Count Basie's "Old Testament" orchestra and who is known for his knack for improvisation and for his bright brassy sound.
His father taught him scales and he took up trumpet as a teenager and performed with Duke Ellington's Orchestra for a while.
He he has collaborated with Li Jinhui, who was actively involved in establishing Chinese popular music in Shanghai.
His father was an amateur musician and taught Clayton how to play piano when he was six years old.
He collaborated with many artists, including Benny Goodman.
