Bernadette Mayer
Poet
Poet, author, and artist known for Ceremony Latin, The Formal Field of Kissing, and other works. Famous for her stream-of-consciousness works, she is associated with both the Language Poets and the New York School.
She obtained her Bachelor's degree from The New School in 1967.
She received a 1995 Grants to Artists Award from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts.
She was raised in Brooklyn, New York. Her sister, Rosemary, also had a career as an artist.
She and fellow poet Joseph Ceravolo both graduated from The New School in New York City.
