Benny Green
Pianist
Hard-bop jazz artist who gained recognition as a member of Betty Carter's band and Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers.
He began studying classical piano when he was seven and worked as part of a quintet with Eddie Henderson.
He began leading the Benny Green Trio in 1991.
He developed a love for jazz by listening to his father's record collection while growing up. It didn't hurt that his father was also a jazz tenor saxophonist.
His style was often compared to Bud Powell.
