American sculptor who won the Commemorative Silver Medal in 1854. He made a bust of poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
He worked in his father's "wood turning" mill as a young man.
He went to Rome and worked for several years.
His father was Deacon Akers.
He created a bust of John Milton.
