Australian military officer who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and became the Chief of Joint Operations.
He graduated from the Royal Military College, Duntroon and was appointed to the Royal Australian Artillery.
Among his military honors are the Conspicuous Service Cross, the Australian Active Service Medal, the INTERFET medal, the Defence Force Service Medal, and the NATO ISAF medal.
He married his wife, Narelle, in 1978, and they had two daughters.
He was inducted into the Order of Australia, established by Queen Elizabeth II in 2006 and was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2012.
