Her debut book, Circles of Confusion, was a finalist for both the Anthony Award and the Agatha Award.
When she was twelve years old, she sent one of her stories to renowned children's author Roald Dahl, who recommended the piece for publication in a popular children's journal. She is a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and a purple belt in kung fu.
She was raised in the town of Medford, Oregon, by a florist mother and a television anchor father.
She and Lis Wiehl co-wrote the Triple Threat Mystery books.
