Replaced an ill conductor shortly before he was set to make his Brussels debut, leading the orchestra as he played the piano.
He won several international competitions, including First Prize in the 10th Vienna Beethoven Competition, First Prize in the London International Piano Competition 2000, the Dublin International Piano Competition in 2003, and the Leeds International Piano Competition in 2003.
He served as one of the artists in residence at the Konzerthaus Dortmund for three years.
He was born into a musical family and made his orchestral debut when he was seven.
He became known as a master of the works of Ludwig van Beethoven and Johannes Brahms.
