French sculptor and painter known for his monuments of Robert E. Lee, Marquis de Lafayette, and Francis Scott Key.
He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts, Paris, under Alexandre Falguiere and François Jouffroy.
He won the Grand Prix de Rome at the age of 23.
His parents raised him in Toulouse.
He made a bronze statue of Robert E. Lee which is in Richmond, Virginia.
