Anthony Carmona

In 2013, this political Independent became Trinidad and Tobago's fifth president. Earlier in his political career, he had presided over his island nation's Supreme Court and had also briefly served as an International Criminal Court judge.
During the 1970s and early 1980s, he graduated from both the University of the West Indies and the Hugh Wooding Law School.
He completed his secondary school education at a Catholic institution called Presentation College.
His wife, Reema Harrysingh, was raised in the United States as a member of a Hindu family.
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar supported Carmona's nomination for the presidency of Trinidad and Tobago.
