Defensive specialist who became the defensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons in 2012. He was the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers from 2005 to 2008.
He had his first coaching position as a linebackers coach for Stanford University in 1982.
He also served as a defensive coordinator for the 49ers, Broncos, Dolphins, Jets, Ravens, and Redskins.
He and his wife Kathy have four children.
He was Ray Lewis's defensive coordinator on the Baltimore Ravens from 2002 to 2004.
