Pace bowler who theirly helped England hand West Indies their first loss at Bridgetown in over fifty years in 1994, taking 8 for 75 in the first innings. He was one of Wisden's Cricketers of the Year in 1996.
He was born in Lancashire and attended Gayton High School in Harrow, Middlesex. He made his Test and ODI debuts in 1989.
He was named the Managing Director of Cricket by Middlesex CCC in 2009. He was a cricket correspondent for The Independent from 2002-09.
He and his wife have children named Alexander and Bethan. His brother Alastair played first-class cricket for Middlesex and Essex.
His England teammate Dominic Cork was also named Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1996.
