Multi-instrumentalist who performed with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, and Elvin Jones.
He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music Degree from Howard University.
He is a noted musicologist who released The Works of John Coltrane, Vols. 1 though 14: 701 transcriptions of John Coltrane's Improvisations.
His father also attended Howard University.
He played electric bass alongside Jaco Pastorius on The Weather Report's 1973 album Sweetnighter.
