He was born in Briouze, a small province.
Famous in the US, too, he was invited to write as a theater correspondent for The Saturday Evening Post.
He grew up in Lower Normandy and never married.
He allowed actor Eddie Bracken the opportunity to gain notoriety as a top Vaudeville performer.
