Jazz pianist and composer who became a recipient of the Soul Train Music Award and a featured player on the R&B charts.
He was a student at the Paris Conservatory and the Mozart Academy. He later studied at the Berklee School of Music.
His debut album, 1989's Love Season, was a hit on the pop and R&B charts.
His family would often take him to the Montreux Jazz Festival when he was growing up.
He was the nephew of legendary trumpeter Donald Byrd.
