Jazz clarinet player who played with Louis Armstrong in the New Orleans jazz scene in the early 20s.
He began his career playing in New Orleans with Buddy Petit.
He moved to France in 1953, where he remained for the better part of his life.
The trumpeter, Wooden Joe Nichols was his uncle.
He played with Art Hodes in the 1940s.
