Zoi Konstantopoulou
Politician
In early 2015, this Greek Syriza Party (Coalition of the Radical Left) politician became the youngest-ever Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament.
After studying law at the University of Athens, the Paris West University Nanterre La Defense, the Sorbonne, and Columbia University, she became a human rights attorney and international criminal lawyer.
Despite her legal focus on human rights, she was widely criticized for delaying the trial of a client of hers who was an accused serial rapist.
She was born in Athens, Greece, to Lina Alexiou and Synaspismos political organization leader Nikos Konstantopoulos.
She and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras are contemporaries and fellow members of the Syriza Party.
