He moved to Las Vegas as a child and attended Cimarron-Memorial High School.
He played in the Midwest League All-Star Game as a member of the South Bend Silver Hawks.
His father, Patrick, served in the U.S. Air Force.
His first career hit broke up a potential no-hitter by Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez in September 2013.
