Softball pitcher best known for throwing the first-ever Olympic perfect game in 2004 against China.
She was an extremely talented teen softball player before making her Olympic debut as a 22-year old.
She led Japan to a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics, after a bronze medal at the 2004 games.
She was born in Fukuoka City, Japan.
During the Olympics she developed a great rivalry against a United States team that featured Laura Berg.
