Wing Chun grandmaster whose notable students included Bruce Lee and Lok Yiu. He is also known as Yip Kai-man.
He became a policeman at age twenty-four.
He established the Ving Tsun Athletic Association.
He was one of four children born to Yip Oi-dor and Ng Shui. He was married to Cheung Wing-sing and had two sons named Ip Chun and Ip Ching.
He mentored William Cheung, Moy Yat, and Bruce Lee.
