Brazilian catcher who made his MLB debut with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2012, then went on to play for the Cleveland Indians from 2013 to 2018. He earned his first Silver Slugger Award in 2014. In 2016, he helped the Indians reach the World Series and in 2019, he won a World Series title with the Washington Nationals.
He moved from Cuba to the United States at age 12 and played college baseball for the Tennessee Volunteers.
He became the first-ever Brazilian-born player to make it to the MLB.
He married Jenna Hammaker, whose father is former All-Star pitcher Atlee Hammaker.
He was teammates with Francisco Lindor in Cleveland.
