Shortstop from Aruba who made his MLB debut with the Boston Red Sox in 2013, helping the team win a World Series Championship in his first season. He earned his second World Series title with the team in 2018.
His Dutch National Team won the gold medal at the 2011 Baseball World Cup.
He was rated as the Number Three Prospect in all of Baseball by Keith Law in 2013.
He has a sister named Chandra. His brother, Jair, also successfully pursued a career as a professional baseball player.
During his time in the Red Sox system he was named the best young shortstop in Boston since Nomar Garciaparra.
