Jazz pianist who collaborated with renowned trumpet player, Miles Davis, during the late 1950s and early 1960s. One of his most monumental appearances was in the legendary Davis album, Kind of Blue.

Before Fame

He started playing the piano when he was just four years old and was largely a self-taught pianist, despite attending New York's High School of Music & Art. He joined several R&B groups and began performing professionally in the early 1940s.

Trivia

He replaced Red Garland as Miles Davis' primary pianist, beginning his musical collaboration with Davis in 1959.

He was born in New York City to Jamaican immigrant parents.
