He made his provincial rugby debut for the Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup.
He was inducted into the University of Pretoria Sport Hall of Fame in 2008.
He was born in Welkom, South Africa.
He and fellow South African footballer Pierre Spies both played for the Bulls in Super Rugby.
