William Thomas Stead

Journalistic icon and newspaper editor best known for his influential series of articles titled "The Maiden Tribute of Modern Babylon." He is credited with pioneering the way in which media is used to influence public opinion and policy.
He was home-schooled by his father, who taught him the Holy Scriptures and ensured that he was nearly fluent in Latin.
He died in the their Titanic shipwreck of 1912, the same year he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
His father was Congregational minister Rev. William Stead.
He and "Macy's" co-owner Isidor Straus both died aboard the Titanic.
