Borden, Inc. food company heir, missionary, and philanthropist. He donated a large portion of his fortune to the China Inland Mission and other Christian organizations.
After graduating from Yale University in 1909, he entered the Princeton Theological Seminary.
He died of meningitis while completing his missionary training in Northern China.
He was born into a prominent Chicago family. He and his three siblings were the children of Mary Degama Whiting and William Borden.
He and Christina Smith were both turn-of-the-century Christian missionaries.
