Winner of the first season of Britain's Pop Idol. His debut single, "Anything is Possible," was released in 2002. To date, he has won three BRIT Awards.
He studied musical theater for three years at the Arts Educational Schools in London.
His performance of "Light My Fire" by The Doors helped him to win the first season of Pop Idol and place fifth in World Idol.
He has an older sister, Emma, as well as a twin brother named Rupert Maxwell. Young publicly came out as gay in 2002.
He and Kelly Clarkson were both first season winners of Idol in their respective countries.
