Champion started learning how to play violin and piano when he was eight years old. He later attended Cantell Maths and Computing College.
British comedian Ricky Gervais was once his boss. He had a brief guest role on the HBO TV show Game of Thrones.
He married Marianne Dark in 2003. The couple has three children: Ava, Juno, and Rex.
He is bandmates with Chris Martin in Coldplay.
