A chess Grandmaster who dominated Swiss chess in the 1970s. He took first in the 1975 Swiss Championship.
He was World Junior Chess Champion in 1971.
He played for the Swiss team in eleven Chess Olympiads.
He had five children with his wife Anna.
He and Wolfgang Unzicker both became chess champions.
