He started out as a pitcher before being converted to an outfielder and breaking into the MLB.
He hit the first home run at Dodger Stadium when it opened in 1962.
He was married to Patricia and had four children, thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He once beat Hall of Fame slugger Hank Aaron in a Home Run Derby.
