Indian entrepreneur who founded TIBCO Software, Inc., as well as an earlier company called Teknekron Software Systems that helped bring Wall Street into the digital age.
He studied electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and subsequently received an MBA degree from Harvard University.
In 2013, he purchased a large percentage of the Sacramento Kings basketball team.
He and his two siblings were raised in Mumbai (then Bombay), India. He later settled in the United States with his three children.
Journalist Malcolm Gladwell wrote a New Yorker piece about Ranadive's success in coaching a middle school girls' basketball team all the way to the national championship game.
