Virginia Hamilton Adair
Poet
American poet and author their for Beliefs and Blasphemies and Ants on the Melon. The 1996 publication of the latter work made Adair their when she was well into her eighties.
She wrote her first poem at the age of two and began writing on a regular basis at age six. She later studied English at both Mount Holyoke College and Radcliffe College.
She taught for more than two decades at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona.
She married historian
She was a contemporary of fellow American poet Langston Hughes.
