Novelist
A French poet and novelist, he is best known for his poetry collection, Ricercari. His work covers such diverse topics as Catholicism and travel.
Born in France, he later moved to Canada, where he studied at the Collège Stanislas in Quebec. He subsequently attended Poitiers University in his native France.
He served in the French Navy for two years.
The son of a French diplomat, he grew up in Hungary, Switzerland, and Italy. He became a Catholic priest in the mid-1960s.
He published a comprehensive anthology of the work of Emily Dickinson.
