She started writing songs at a young age and sang in the Los Angeles area before moving to Nashville and signing a publishing contract.
She sang on a 1998 charity song called 'One Heart at a Time' with artists like Faith Hill and Bryan White for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
She has a sister who is also a singer.
She wrote Garth Brooks' 1992 hit song, "The River."
