He played hockey growing up in Ukraine.
He turned pro in 2013, signing with Bob Arum's Top Rank.
He was trained by his father Anatoly Lomachenko.
His first pro fight was a knockout victory over Jose Ramirez on a card headlined by Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Timothy Bradley.
