Tony Jannus
Pilot
One of the first pilots in America, he flew the first airliner and was the first person to jump from a plane.
He taught himself to fly, becoming a respected aviator by age 21.
He piloted a record-setting 1,973-mile flight from Omaha, Nebraska, to New Orleans, Louisiana, the same year he made the parachute test flight.
His father was a patent lawyer, and his grandfather was a former politician.
He and Wiley Post were both early pioneers of flight.
