Venture capitalist and entrepreneur who rose to fame as the CEO of Zappos.com. He sold LinkExchange to Microsoft for $265 million in 1999.
He grew up in the San Francisco Bay area with his brothers, Dave and Andy.
He worked for Oracle Corporation for five months after graduating college, but grew tired of the corporate world. In the last years of his life, he dedicated a ton of time to helping modernize and bring entrepreneurship to downtown Las Vegas.
His parents, Judy and Richard Hsieh, moved to San Francisco after having him in Illinois.
He won the Ernst & Whinney and Arthur M. Young & Co. Entrepreneur Of The Year Award in 2007. He sold his online shoe company Zappos to Jeff Bezos' company Amazon in 2009.
