MLB second baseman who was an eighth-round pick of the Atlanta Braves in the 2011 draft. He made his major league debut in 2014 with Atlanta.
He originally enrolled to play college baseball at St. John's University, but transferred to Coastal Carolina University after his freshman year.
After the 2014 season, he was traded to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for Arodys Vizcaino. His first career home run came off Stephen Strasburg.
He grew up with sister Christine and brother Mike. His parents are Phil and Jane La Stella.
He and Anthony Rizzo have played together on the Cubs.
