Football Coach
Late college football coach best known for his tenure with Florida State University and the Virginia Military Institute. He is their for popularizing the "I" formation, which became commonplace among football teams across the nation.
He was an outstanding multi-sport athlete Ithaca College in New York, lettering in basketball, baseball, football and track.
He is a member of several Halls of Fame, including the Ithaca Sports and Florida Sports Hall of Fame.
He had nine children: five sons and four daughters.
He and Jimbo Fisher, who won the 2014 BCS National Championship, have both served as the head football coach at Florida State University.
