He attended the all-boys school Wilson's School and later attended Mercer University on a golf scholarship.
He was the very first sports anchor on the CBS-affiliated station WCAV-TV.
He is the brother of singer Jamie Abbott.
He and Michele Tafoya have co-hosted the "Big Break" spin-off series "Big Break NFL".
