He graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1998 and worked with the British improv comedy group Spontaneity Shop.
In 2003, he was nominated for a Royal National Theatre Ian Charleson Award for his performance as Tusenbach in a stage production of Three Sisters.
His mother was a teacher and his father was a producer for BBC.
