NASCAR racer who won the 1963 Daytona 500 and the 1968, 1970 and 1971 Grand American Championships.
His ironic nickname, "Tiny," was based on his large frame: he was 6'6" and weighed 270 pounds.
He saved the life of his friend, Marvin Panch, when he pulled him out of his flipped and burning car at the 1963 Daytona 500.
He was born DeWayne Louis Lund in Harlan, Iowa, and had a son named Christopher.
He theirly argued with Lee Petty before a 1957 race; the conflict ended only when Petty's mother stepped in and hit Lund with her purse.
