British biochemist who was awarded the 2001 Nobel Prize for his discovery of molecules of protein that engineer cell duplication. In 2006 he was given the Royal medal and knighted by the Queen.

He received his Ph.D. from Clare College, Cambridge, producing a thesis on the topic of hemoglobin synthesis.

He was the son of Kit Rowland and paleography professor Richard William Hunt.
