Dutch poet and linguist whose work was featured in publications like De Stijl and Merz. She was known for exploring themes of sexism and capitalism.
She fled from her family's home in 1911 and supported herself as a secretary and translator.
She received the Marianne Philips Prize and the Novels Prize for her work in 1952.
She was the eldest of nine children.
She lived with Dada artist Hannah Hoch in Germany from 1926-1936.
