Thomas C. Hart
War Hero
U.S. Navy admiral who served from the Spanish American War through World War II.
He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and subsequently served as a junior officer on submarines and surface craft. In 1917, he received his first major military command position.
He was a strong proponent of submarine warfare, and he pushed Navy leadership to obtain and study captured German U-boats from World War I.
His daughter married the grandson of President
President Franklin D. Roosevelt awarded him with the Gold Star during World War II for his actions in the weeks following the Attack on Pearl Harbor.
