He made his professional debut on the Barcelona B squad at age 17.
He won the Don Balon Award as the La Liga Breakthrough Player of the Year in 2003.
He and his brother were raised in Sao Bernardo do Campo, Sao Paulo.
He won a Ligue 1 title with David Beckham on Paris Saint-Germain in 2013.
