Theodore Winthrop
Autobiographer
An American writer and lawyer, he is known for such posthumously-published works as John Brent and Edwin Brothertof. His autobiographical novel, Cecil Dreeme, is considered his masterpiece.
He attended Yale University. Upon his graduation, he traveled widely and published several short stories, novels, and essays based on his travels.
He was one of the first Union officers killed in the Civil War.
He was born in New Haven, Conecticut. He married Elizabeth Woolsey.
He was a descendant of John Winthrop.
