Theodore William Richards
Chemist
An American chemist who is best known for determining the atomic weights of numerous chemical elements. He was awarded the 1914 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his important work in the field.
He entered Haverford College in 1883 at the young age of fourteen before graduating from Harvard University in 1886.
He was the first American chemist to win the Nobel Prize for Chemistry.
He had two sons with his wife Miriam Stuart Thayer, who he married in 1896.
Like Roald Hoffmann, he was an American chemist to win the Nobel Prize.
