Theodor W. Adorno
Philosopher
Known for his leadership in the Frankfurt School of critical theory of society. He was a sociologist, philosopher, and musicologist.
He studied psychology, philosophy, and sociology at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University.
He impacted the European New Left through his works Dialectic of Enlightenment from 1947, Minima Moralia from 1951, and Negative Dialectics from 1966.
He grew up in a musical family and was able to play pieces by Beethoven as a child. He married Gretel Adorno in 1937. His name was Theodor Wiesengrund-Adorno until he got his U.S. citizenship.
He followed the works of Karl Marx.
